Bukola Adubi, CEO of MicCom Cables and Wires Ltd and President of the Cable Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (CAMAN), highlighted the significant role of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act in the growth of the country’s cable manufacturing sector. Speaking at the 24th NOG Energy Week in Abuja, Adubi emphasized the legislation’s contribution to creating opportunities for indigenous manufacturers.
Call for Additional Incentives
During a panel discussion, industry leaders, including Adubi, advocated for further incentives like tax reliefs to enhance local manufacturing. They warned that without a strong industrial base, Nigeria’s local content policy might not achieve its full potential.
MicCom’s Expansion and Commitment to Quality
Adubi announced MicCom’s plans to expand its operations and increase market visibility across Nigeria, despite challenges such as rising copper costs. She stressed the importance of maintaining high production standards and the need for International Oil Companies (IOCs) to recognize the capabilities of Nigerian manufacturers.
The Need for Gas Infrastructure Investment
Adubi also pointed out the urgent need for investment in gas pipeline infrastructure to facilitate the switch to cleaner energy sources like Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), highlighting its potential for industrial growth.
