Joint Task Force Thwarts Terrorist Attack in Niger State
Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma successfully foiled a terrorist attack in the Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State. The operation, which took place on July 22, was disclosed by Captain David Adewusi, the spokesman of Operation Fansan Yamma.
Coordinated Assault Leads to Success
The troops launched a coordinated assault near Inana Village, engaging the terrorists in a fierce firefight. With support from the Air Component of OPFY, which provided vital intelligence, surveillance, and air strikes, the ground troops were able to neutralize several terrorists and recover numerous motorcycles and communication equipment.
Recoveries and Casualties
Among the items recovered from the terrorists were two AK-47 rifles, one magazine loaded with five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and 18 motorcycles. Unfortunately, one soldier was fatally injured during the engagement.
