President Tinubu’s Commitment to Nigerian Athletes
President Bola Tinubu has taken a significant step by approving the full payment of allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons ahead of their final match against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). This decision marks a pivotal moment in Nigerian sports administration.
A New Era for Nigerian Sports
Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, announced that all entitlements, including those for the final on July 26, have been disbursed for immediate payment. This gesture is part of a broader commitment to ensuring timely payments to athletes, coaches, and officials, eliminating delays and fostering a culture of dignity and trust.
Extending Support to D’Tigress
The initiative also benefits D’Tigress, Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, as they prepare for their 2025 FIBA Women AfroBasket campaign in Côte d’Ivoire. The team will receive improved allowances and bonuses, underscoring the administration’s dedication to all Nigerian athletes.
