Sebastien Haller has officially left Borussia Dortmund to join Dutch side Utrecht on a permanent deal, marking a new chapter in his career. The 31-year-old striker, who has had a tumultuous time at Dortmund, including a battle with testicular cancer, is set to return to a club where he previously enjoyed success.

Haller’s departure from Dortmund comes after a season where he played a pivotal role in Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations victory, scoring the winning goal in the final. Despite his contributions, his time at Dortmund was marred by challenges, including a missed penalty that cost the team the Bundesliga title.

“This summer there was quite a bit of interest from other clubs, but for me there was only one ideal scenario and that was FC Utrecht,” Haller shared, expressing his excitement about the move. The striker is looking forward to reuniting with the club where he played between 2015 and 2017.
