APC Accused of Neglecting Governance
Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has launched a scathing critique of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of failing to prioritize governance and deliver meaningful change to Nigerians. Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Ibe highlighted the APC’s focus on politics over solving the country’s pressing challenges.
Democratic Culture Under Threat
Ibe also accused the APC-led government of eroding Nigeria’s democratic culture, alleging that state institutions, including financial and anti-corruption agencies, are being used to coerce politicians and citizens into joining the party. He warned that these actions could lead Nigeria towards a ‘civilian dictatorship’, where political opposition is silenced and governance suffers.
Atiku’s Resignation from PDP
The comments come in the wake of Atiku Abubakar’s resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing irreconcilable differences with the party’s current trajectory. Ibe lamented the squandering of democratic gains since 1999 and the APC’s push towards a one-party state, emphasizing the importance of choice and opposition in a healthy democracy.
