NNPC Advocates for Continental Collaboration in Fuel Refining
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in establishing a fuel refining hub for Africa, stating that no single country can undertake this monumental task alone.
Strategic Moves Towards Energy Sovereignty
During the Global Commodity Insights Conference on West African Refined Fuel Market in Abuja, NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, highlighted the critical need for a unified approach to overcome the continent’s refining challenges and harness its potential.
Building a Sustainable Future
Ojulari pointed out that with global energy demand expected to rise by over 25% by 2040, Africa’s role in both demand and energy usage is significant. He called for coordinated actions, bold investments, and resolute leadership to address the structural bottlenecks hindering the continent’s refining capacity.
NNPC is already taking steps towards this vision through strategic initiatives, including the repositioning of its refineries and partnerships with projects like the Dangote Refinery, aiming to lay the groundwork for a sufficient refining ecosystem.
