Police Force’s Strategic Shift Towards Technology-Driven Policing
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to eradicating violent crimes, especially kidnapping, through the adoption of advanced technology and intelligence-led operations. This commitment comes on the heels of successful missions in Enugu and Ogun States, where police operatives rescued kidnapped victims and apprehended suspects.
Successful Operations in Enugu State
On July 16, 2025, a swift response to a distress call in the Okpuje-Ani community led to the neutralization of an armed kidnapper and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle. Additionally, the arrest of Aliyu Adamu, who confessed to multiple abductions, marked a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping.
Breakthrough in Ogun State
A reported kidnapping incident triggered a rapid deployment of tactical teams, resulting in the rescue of three victims and the neutralization of two suspects. The operation also uncovered a cache of weapons and ransom money, showcasing the effectiveness of technology in modern policing.
The IGP praised the operatives for their bravery and professionalism, emphasizing the Force’s commitment to restoring public confidence in national security through proactive and technology-driven strategies.
