The Lagos State University (LASU) has officially called off its industrial action after a productive meeting with the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat. This decision marks a significant turnaround for the institution, which had suspended all academic and social activities due to the strike.
According to a statement released by the university, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) has approved the resumption of academic and social activities effective Wednesday, 13th August 2025. Students are expected to return to their hostels across all campuses in Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe, with the previously suspended Second Semester Examinations now scheduled to commence on Monday, 18th August 2025.
The university’s Senate, after reviewing updates from the Vice-Chancellor regarding the meeting with state officials, resolved to lift the suspension on academic activities. “Students are advised to return promptly and prepare adequately for the examinations,” the statement emphasized.
This development comes after the institution’s Senate had initially suspended all activities following the declaration of industrial action by the JAC of Staff Unions on Thursday, 31st July 2025.
