bloomshorts RB Leipzig has officially announced the acquisition of Brazilian striker Romulo Cardoso from Turkish club Goztepe, as a direct replacement for Benjamin Sesko, who recently joined Manchester United.
The 23-year-old Romulo has committed to Leipzig until 2030, with the transfer fee reported to be around 25 million euros, including bonuses. This move comes at a crucial time for Leipzig, who were in dire need of a forward following Sesko’s high-profile transfer to United, which cost the English giants approximately 85 million euros.
Romulo’s impressive performance last season, where he scored 13 goals and provided 9 assists in 29 league appearances, has made him a highly anticipated addition to the team. Leipzig, finishing seventh last season and missing out on European football, is undergoing a significant rebuild under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, Red Bull’s global head of football.
In preparation for the upcoming Bundesliga season, Leipzig has also secured the services of promising talents such as winger Johan Bakayoko and midfielder Arthur Vermeeren, alongside appointing Ole Werner as the new manager.
