NDLEA’s Major Breakthrough in Drug Bust
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully arrested a 60-year-old drug kingpin, concluding a six-year manhunt. The arrest was made at his hideout in the Isheri area of Lagos on July 13, following the interception of drug consignments destined for various parts of the country.
Details of the Arrest
According to NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the suspect was caught with large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine. A coordinated operation led to the seizure of 7.6 kg of cocaine and 900 grams of methamphetamine from a courier, with additional drugs recovered from the kingpin’s residence.
Further Drug Interceptions
In related operations, NDLEA operatives intercepted drugs at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and the Lagos airport, including tramadol, Rohypnol, and skunk. These efforts underscore the agency’s commitment to combating drug trafficking across Nigeria.
