New APC Chairman’s Bold Vision
Nentawe Yilwatda, the newly elected Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has made a bold declaration to take tough decisions aimed at strengthening the party’s position in Nigeria’s political landscape. His announcement came during an exclusive interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, shortly after his election in Abuja.
Uniting the Party and Expanding Influence
Yilwatda emphasized his immediate priority is to ensure the unity of the APC, alongside a strategic plan to woo governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties to join the APC. ‘My immediate priority is that the party is united,’ he stated, highlighting his commitment to fully implement the party’s manifesto.
A Leader with a Diverse Background
Before his political ascendancy, Yilwatda was a registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a community developer, and a former lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi. His journey from being the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the Humanitarian Affairs Minister under President Bola Tinubu’s administration in October 2024, and now the APC national chairman, showcases his diverse experience and leadership capabilities.
