Plateau State Government Criticizes Military Over Failure to Apprehend Killers
The Plateau State Government has expressed dissatisfaction with the Nigerian Army’s inability to arrest the perpetrators behind the killing of 27 farmers in Tahoss community, Riyom Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred on Monday, saw the military failing to neutralize or capture any of the suspected assailants, despite being in close contact during the incident.
Community Vulnerability Highlighted
Information Commissioner Joyce Ramnap revealed that the attacked community was merely 200 meters away from a military checkpoint, questioning the effectiveness of the security presence. “The response we got was that none were arrested and none were captured,” Ramnap stated, underscoring the community’s exposure to such attacks.
Calls for Investigation
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for accountability and improved security measures to prevent future occurrences. The governor described the continuous attacks on Plateau State’s communities as genocide, urging for immediate action to safeguard the citizens.
