Two individuals suspected of kidnapping have been apprehended in the Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, marking a pivotal moment in the fight against violent crimes in the region.
The suspects, identified as Yahaya Umar and Mohammed Umar, were found in possession of an AK-47 rifle, following a tip-off about their activities in a hideout located in Mahadi forest. This operation was carried out by the anti-kidnapping squad in collaboration with local hunters.
According to ASP James Lashen, the acting Police Public Relations Officer in Taraba, this arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state. The suspects have confessed to their involvement in a syndicate that has been terrorizing Plateau and Taraba States.
State Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen, has praised the swift action of the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to ensuring peace and safety in Taraba. She emphasized the importance of community collaboration and information sharing in achieving these goals.
