Tragic Drowning Incident in Bauchi

Three teenagers have tragically lost their lives after drowning in a river located in Jinkiri Village, Tirwun Ward, within the Bauchi Local Government Area. The victims, identified as Habibu Mohammed, 16; Abubakar Mohammed, 16; and Zailani Sule, 14, were residents of Durum Village.

Details of the Incident

The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the teenagers had been involved in mining activities before deciding to swim in the river. The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, and despite immediate efforts to seek medical help, the teenagers were pronounced dead before reaching the hospital.

Police Response and Safety Warning

Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and emphasized the importance of safety, particularly during the rainy season. The police have assured the public that an investigation into the incident has been initiated, and the bodies have been released to the families for burial after an examination at the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi State.
